and treatment plans for your clients by studying our CPD for Vets.
Vets enter the course at the practical stage and are not required to complete the theory units. The CPD for Vets is focused on practical application and will enhance your skills in postural assessment, functional movement patterns and how to apply effective massage techniques and rehabilitative treatment
programmes to support a dog’s musculoskeletal health. You will also learn how to apply our revolutionary Positive PACT® treatment protocol.

COURSE UNITS
Pre-Practical Modules There are five Pre-Practical self-paced modules which allow you to continually develop and expand your skills. Each module is consolidated with online tutor meetings to broaden and embed your knowledge. The modules contain unique resources such as videos on muscle placement which you can revisit any time.
During the modules, you’ll learn:
• Human and canine postural assessment
• Functional anatomy and biomechanics
• Assessing superficial anatomy of the canine
• Assessing canine biomechanics in relation to loading and posture
• Functional movement patterns and identification of compensatory issues
• Impacts of the environment on the musculoskeletal system
• In-depth learning of the relationship between pain and behaviour
• Theory and application of the Galen Comfort Scale©
• Positive PACT® treatment protocol (scientifically supported)Practical Modules The practical modules are focused on developing your hands-on massage techniques and understanding of rehabilitative functional movement enabling you to confidently apply Galen Myotherapy techniques.
There is the option to attend the practical in person or online for those individuals who find it difficult or prohibitively expensive to travel, or prefer to complete their learning at home.
During the practical, you’ll learn:
• Massage technique application and palpation skills
• Practical anatomy from a functional and applied perspective
• Translating canine’s muscles, fascia and skeleton directly onto a dog
• Assessment of canine physical integrity, observations and comparisons of movementIf you are attending the practical at one of our training centres, we will provide canine tutors for you to practice your palpation skills on. The attended practical days run from Monday-Friday starting at 9am and finishing at 4:30pm.
If you opt for the online practical, you will need access to multiple dogs, these can be your own or dogs known to you (subject to veterinary approval). You will also be required to have equipment to video yourself and share the footage via your computer. The online practicals are divided into 11 modules, delivered over a number of weeks and range from 30 minute 1:1's, to 3 hour group sessions. Timings have been planned to cater for a range of time zones.Case studies On completion of the practical you will complete 3 individual case studies.
These include:
* Visual postural and loading assessment - using photos and videos only
* Galen Comfort Scale© completion* 3 treatments for each case study
* Home environment and activity guidance
* Appropriate exercise programme in order to enhance rehabilitation or to help sustain correct kinetic movement patterning achieved through manual therapy
Your case studies will be discussed with a Galen Veterinary Surgeon or Galen registered tutor within the Vet Viva at the end of the course.
REFUND POLICY
The Customer shall pay the course fee or deposit to the Provider to secure their place on the Galen Canine Myotherapy CPD for Vets Course.
No refunds will be given after the 14 day cooling off period and customers must continue to pay the monthly instalments until all course fees are paid.
